DrinkPak Prepares 1.4M SF Philadelphia Plant

DrinkPak is preparing to open its massive South Philadelphia manufacturing facility as development continues at the Bellwether District. The 1.4-million-square-foot plant will become Philadelphia’s largest industrial building.

The California-based beverage manufacturer expects to launch its first production line in late spring. DrinkPak will then continue building out the facility in phases as operations expand.

The Philadelphia location will become DrinkPak’s most advanced manufacturing facility. The company currently operates additional facilities in California and Texas.

At full capacity, the South Philadelphia plant could produce approximately 3,000 cans every minute. Annual production could eventually reach 5 billion cans.

DrinkPak expects that production capacity to make the property the world’s largest beverage manufacturing facility. The scale highlights the significant industrial activity planned for the Bellwether District site.

The facility also represents a major addition to Philadelphia’s manufacturing sector. Modern production operations increasingly require large properties with significant infrastructure, transportation access, and room for future expansion.

Additionally, DrinkPak’s phased opening demonstrates how manufacturers can gradually increase production within large industrial developments. The approach allows the company to expand operations as additional production lines become operational.

The project further strengthens the Bellwether District’s transformation into a major industrial and logistics destination. Large-scale manufacturing can also generate demand across transportation, distribution, supply chain, and related commercial services.

For Philadelphia’s industrial market, the 1.4-million-square-foot facility represents an unusually large manufacturing commitment within city limits. Its planned production capacity further distinguishes the project from traditional warehouse developments.

DrinkPak remains several months away from beginning production. However, the company is already preparing to scale the South Philadelphia facility into a major component of its national manufacturing network.
