DrinkPak Begins Construction on 1.4M SF Manufacturing Facility at Bellwether District

Construction is underway on DrinkPak’s new East Coast manufacturing facility in Philadelphia. The project follows one of the largest industrial lease transactions ever completed in the region.

The California-based beverage manufacturer signed a lease for approximately 1.4 million square feet. As a result, the facility will become a cornerstone of the Bellwether District redevelopment.

Located on a former refinery site in Southwest Philadelphia, the Bellwether District spans roughly 1,300 acres. Since acquiring the property in 2020, HRP Group has transformed the site into a master-planned industrial and logistics campus.

DrinkPak will invest at least $195 million into the project. Meanwhile, the facility is expected to open in 2027.

The strategic location played a significant role in the company’s decision. With access to Interstate 95, Interstate 76, and the Port of Philadelphia, the site offers efficient distribution throughout the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Midwest regions.

DrinkPak serves a wide range of nationally recognized beverage brands. Its customer portfolio includes White Claw, High Noon, Monster Energy, and Celsius.

Once operational, the facility will support production across numerous beverage categories. These include energy drinks, sparkling waters, teas, juices, sodas, beer, wine, and spirits.

Notably, the plant will feature four high-speed production lines capable of producing up to 3,000 cans per minute. In addition, an automated repacking system will assemble multi-flavor packaging formats at speeds reaching 2,000 cans per minute.

The Philadelphia facility will join DrinkPak’s existing operations in California and Texas. Both locations also span approximately 1.4 million square feet.

Beyond the scale of the investment, the project highlights Philadelphia’s growing appeal for advanced manufacturing and large-scale industrial users. At the same time, the Bellwether District continues attracting major occupiers seeking access to transportation infrastructure and East Coast markets.
